NEET National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses is conducted by the central Board of secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi under 15 % merit positions in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India. The exam will be conducted as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme court and will be governed by the rules and regulations specified for the same by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The CBSE is responsible to conduct the entrance test, declaration of result and providing merit list to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi along with participating State Governments/Universities/Institutions.


The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi will conduct the counselling for successful candidates under 15 % All India Quota seats while the Counselling for admission in seats under the control of other participating States/Universities/Institutions shall be conducted by their respective Authorities.

Candidates seeking admission in AFMC for MBBS Course will register online through NEET along which they will have to register at Once the CBSE allots Roll Number to the candidates appearing in NEET, the links of the AFMC websites for registration & online application will be activated after

Candidates seeking admission under Central Institutions, State Quota seats, AFMC, and other participating institutions etc. are also advised to be in touch with the concerned authority viz., Medical Education Directorate of the State/ UT / AFMC and other Institutions and Universities.

Tentative Dates for NEET

  • Last date for online submission of Application Forms without late fee 2nd week of January
  • Last date for online submission of Application forms with late fee 2nd week of February
  • Last date for uploading of Admit Cards on website 1st week of April
  • Date of Entrance Exam 1st week of May
  • Announcement of Result 1st week of June

Eligibility Criteria for NEET

  • The Candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years at the time of admission.
  • The upper age limit is 25 years as on 31st December of the years of the entrance exam which shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST/OBC category.
  • The Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individuall
  • For General Category (GC), the candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50 % marks, for General-PH 45 % marks and for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH category 40 % marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examinations.
  • For the students who take admission under 15 % All India Quota Scheme, no state eligibility criteria will be applicable

Paper pattern of NEET

  • The NEET Exam consists of one paper of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
  • The paper contains of 45 questions on each subject with a total of 180 objective type questions of 720 marks.
  • Every question has one single correct answer to be chosen from four options.
  • An Incorrect answer or more than one answer will result in 1/4th negative marks.
  • Duration of the paper would be 3 hours from 10 : 00 am to 01 : 00 pm.
  • Candidates can choose from the languages English or in Hindi to answer the Question Paper.
